WARMING UP HAS BEGUN!Preparations for the BVI Poker Run 2012 are being finalized and expectations on this, its 11th anniversary, are high. More than 60 boats from Puerto Rico, Miami, and the USVI's will head out to the BVI's to participate in the event on Memorial Day weekend. "It is the biggest Poker Run up to date," expressed Nick Willis, manager of Leverick Bay Resort. LAST YEAR'S RESULTS...More than 120 boats competed in last year's 10th Annual BVI Poker Run held on Sunday May 29th, 2011. The majority of the competitors were from the Virgin Islands, which fielded 90 boats, while 35 came from Puerto Rico, two from Miami, and four from the island of St. Maarten. José Dueño, from Puerto Rico, took 3rd place while James Jones of the Distraction Team won 2nd place with a Full House. Local Dion Crabbe took the top prize of $8,000 with four fives. |

Welcome to the 11th Anniversary of the Most anticipated nautical event of the yearThis year's Leverick Bay Poker Run marks the 11th anniversary of the legendary event, which has drawn the attention of hundreds of nautical enthusiasts to the clear BVI waters. During the Leverick Bay Poker Run, participants travel a pre-designated route, drawing a card at each stop until they complete the route at Leverick Bay Resort & Marina. At the end of the journey, participants holding the best poker hand are crowned Poker Run champion. A large portion of the participants' entry costs are donated to local charities including The Virgin Gorda Charitable Trust and Virgin Gorda Animal Rescue.
The Poker Run has become a national holiday in the BVI's, attracting a large amount of visitors from the USVI's and Puerto Rico. This year's 11th anniversary celebrations will certainly attract the biggest crowd in the history of this renowned event. This year's celebrations will undoubtedly change this event for years to come, with new surprises at every stop, tons of prizes, a sophisticated fashion show and a stunning display of fireworks at the end of The Poker Run.
